Burak Alexander Filippovich
(1921 - 1997)
A member of the Union of artists of the USSR (1951), the Honoured artist of the RSFSR (1964). Head of the Department of drawing, painting and sculpture of the Sverdlovsk architectural Institute (1968-1989). Professor.

Worked mainly in the genres of landscape and genre painting. Wrote more than 3,000 works. Permanent participant of art exhibitions, both in Russia and abroad (in particular his exhibitions were held in the gallery Marco Catrina in Italy). Works are kept in the State Tretyakov gallery, the Ekaterinburg Museum of fine arts, other museums and private collections.

Alexander Filippovich Burak is one of the most significant painters of the Urals mid-twentieth century. His epic canvases "Pristine Ural", "Stone belt", "Ural Ural......" not without reason put it on par with the artist A. K. Denisov - Uralsky and writer D. N. Mamin - Sibiryak, whose work has always been filled with love and admiration to the native land.
