Camoes is a classic of Portuguese literature. Camões was born in 1524 in Lisbon. Came from an old and wealthy Galician kind. He was not only an outstanding warrior, but also a great poet-Troubadour. The famous poem by the author of "the lusiads" consists of 10 songs, containing 1102 octave. None of the European Nations has no national epic, like "Lusiadas". Camoes celebrates all that makes the glory of the Portuguese, all outstanding historical events and incidents; he talks about the discovery of Vasco da Gama, weaving in the story scenes from Portuguese history. A fervent patriot, the Camões sought to immortalize the heroic feats and national traditions of his countrymen.
