The opening of the art IP Pohitonova contributed solo exhibition, held at the Tretyakov Gallery in 1963, after which began a systematic study of the legacy of the wizard. As an artist long lived abroad and worked in the technique of miniature painting, popular in Europe during the second half of the XIX century, but received no distribution in Russia, his work was not widely known in his homeland.

Nevertheless, IP Pokhitonov always tried to maintain contact with Russia, with Russian artistic life. He wanted as much of his work was represented in the collection of Pavel Tretyakov, who got in his collection of twenty-three of the masters, and participated in exhibitions of the Association of Traveling Art Exhibition, Moscow Society of Art Lovers, represented by their works of Russian art abroad . Since childhood IP Pokhitonov fond of drawing, writing watercolor and oil Ukrainian cottages, Kherson steppes, their relatives and friends. Later, peered at the painting the Wanderers and the French "barbizontsev. To improve skills at the end of 1876 the artist traveled to Italy, and in 1877 settled in Paris. The following year, his landscapes were taken at the Salon des Champs Elysees, which shall be evidence of international recognition of the artist.

The artist painted his paintings on small plates of lemon or a different species of mahogany with a fine brush, sometimes microscopic dimensions, using a palette knife, fish bones and scalpels, used during the magnifiers and special double points. The exhibition shows all the periods of creativity IP Pohitonova in the genres of landscape, still life, portrait, landscape, genre painting. The works are grouped by country and region, in which he worked as an artist - France, Italy, Belgium, Ukraine, Russia, Byelorussia. Separately presented one of the favorite motifs of the artist - hunting scenes from different periods of creativity.

Viewers will be able to get acquainted with the legacy of the wizard with a magnifying glass and enlargements. An interesting addition to the exhibition will be ceramic plates with pictures and autographs of the artist, created in the Paris studio of ceramic artists of Russian Alexei Bogolyubov (late 1870 - early 1880).

The exhibition includes 80 works from the collection of the State Tretyakov Gallery and the collection of OL Margania.
