The ban of up to December 2012 was imposed due to the fact that the picture is a great cultural and historical importance to the UK. The country's authorities hope that the British Museum will be able to buy up the picture, having collected enough money before the end of the year. How much money has paid for Picasso's foreign buyer is not known, but previously reported that this work are estimated at approximately $ 80 million.

If prior to December 2012 someone will make a statement about the willingness to buy now, the ban on its export from the country may be extended for another six months. Previously, however, reported that the picture is too expensive for the British Museum, and they can hardly afford to buy it.

"The child and the Dove" is stored in private collections in the UK since 1924. In 1947 the picture was inherited by Christabel Eyberkonuey, after the death of that one of her heirs conveyed a picture of the National Gallery, where it was exhibited from 1974 to 2011. Now the picture is temporarily on display in Scotland.

Cloth "Child and Dove" was written in 1901, when Picasso was 19 years old. This painting is considered one of the first studies of so-called "blue" period of the artist.
