Died finest painter Vasily Romanenkov

April 28, 2013 suddenly from cancer, just a month and a half lost a wonderful man, a wonderful original artist and poet Vasily Romanenkov.
This very modest, shy, but very deep person.

Vasily T. was born in the village of Bogdanivka Smolensk region. In 1968, after graduating from an eight-year, moved to the suburbs to the mother received the profession of carpenter. In the years 1975-80. studied at ZNUI (teachers and N.Pavlov N.Rotanov).

The extraordinary artistic manner Romanenkova enclosing a drawing pencils and creating small touch of varying thickness kind of "moire" texture formed immediately. But on the advice of teachers ZNUI, gives all power to the chart. His first compositions, which he began to paint the bottom, "with heels," different chaotic and jumble of figures and ornaments. Thereafter, it works more structured and takes the form of cycles consisting of three or more separate operations, each of which has an inner frame. Many subjects connected with the peasant rites and its cycles are devoted to important topics of human life: birth, baptism, wedding, funeral, ancient and modern Russia (for example, the famous polyptych "Semiryaditsa"). The artist reveals his thoughts, resorting to symbols and pictures of ornament, which often included figurative motifs. Romanenkova many links with the traditional folk art. Initially it hard pencil literally scratched on a sheet pasted on canvas and basic forms that reminds techniques of woodcarving. In the subtle weaving of patterns you can see the memories of embroidery and lace. Figures from Romanenkova always rotated into the front or in profile and produce a monumental impression. In broad outline of their faces read the archaic power of pagan ancestor. The tendency to philosophical reflection, to create images of the earth and the heavenly world is expressed as in slow, thoughtful and painstaking method of work of the artist, and in significantly enhances their themes and subjects.
 

The artist participates in exhibitions since 1982. and is widely known in Russia and abroad. The first solo exhibition - "Testimony" in "Tsarina" (1998). In 1999 Romanenkova works have been shown in Amsterdam at "The Outsiders» (Galerie Hamer). He was awarded the Grand Prix of the International Triennial of Naive Art in Bratislava "INSITA-2004" and an honorable mention of the jury at the same exhibition in 1994 and 1997. His work is in the collections provided "Tsarina" GRDNT, the Museum Sh.Tsander (Benighaym), Museum of Naive Art, MTA, OTHER.
