There is nothing mysterious, just have utilities that improve the geometry of the image.
I took a curve image and trim, too little is not correct, the source seems more square, but so is easier to see.

On a stand, on which the capacity, there is an inscription "CDF in 1699."

Caspar David Friedrich (September 5, 1774 - May 7, 1840)

but the date and style is not the same ...

But what is most surprising is that the picture below

"The wanderer above the sea of fog"

this artist is on my avatar in mail.ru is 5-6 years.
Already wince.
