The last exhibition "History of Russian Video Art" opens in the MMSI

MOSCOW, December 16 - RIA Novosti. The last and final exhibition of the project "History of Russian Video Art", sweeping 25-year history of this genre in Russia, opens on Thursday at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art.

 
As told RIA Novosti curator Antonio Dzheuza, for a total exhibition will show about 500 video works created in the last five years.

The first part of the project was shown in 2007, followed by the second part, and finally, in the final exhibition their latest videodostizheniya show not only the already well-known artists, but also participants from the regions.

The project, first shown at the gallery XL, refers simultaneously to the experience of the psychedelic 60's, and to its transformation in Russia in 1990.

A separate part of the project will be its special program on the fourth floor, where the non-stop will cover the different thematic programs. Project "The History of Russian Video Art" includes not only the exhibition program, and research activities. As a result, research has established the date of creation of the first video works in Russia, which is considered to be "A Conversation with the lamp" Andrew Monastery (1985), many works have been rescued from destruction and extinction, and formulated themes and ideas of the genre that emerged during the collapse of the old system and of a new one.
