Default Exhibition "Seascape" in Sochi

In the words of one leader - in Sochi cultural life there! It sounds like - "sex in the USSR was not!". It turns out that summer and the cultural life of our city do not stop .
In Sochi Art Museum opened an exhibition of seascapes from the storerooms of the museum.
One of the earliest time creating landscapes in the exhibition is "The Sea" KC Kostandi. In the picture VN Kuchumova "Crimea. View of the Sea "(1938), we see not only the marine landscape, but also the social signs of age. The nature of the silhouette of a female figure at the parapet with thick plaster balusters and decorative ball is transferred to a Soviet pre-war period. The exhibition presents works of artists and the Moscow school. At its core - the principles of plein air painting: the work stroke texture, color accentuation of the plan, hues in the development of tonal transitions. In 1915-1918's. this school was held the next classic of Soviet art BN Yakovlev ("Rocks in the sea". 1950-s.). Advantages of the style of the Union of Russian Artists in Moscow reveals the work of the painter OS Malyutin "Sea" (1939): in front of us - sensually perceived, emotionally filled with the image of the raging seas. Open-air school was close and GM Gordon (studied in MIII S. Gerasimov, A. Deineka, N. Udaltsova): his painting "Fisherman's Wharf" in 1938, made in an elegant gray scale, reports full of coolness and moisture of the atmosphere of early morning.
It is quite a different direction is the master, which entered the artistic life in the 1960's - DD Žilina (born in 1927). Apprentice NM Chernysheva, PD Korin, V. Yakovlev, to institute them. Surikov (1946), he embodied in his art, a complex synthesis of styles. Symbolic and mystical nature of his work shows, including, in landscapes. Movie "Black Sea" depicts the image of a heavenly existence, where everything is permeated with light a reasonable start and harmony.
Also on display are paintings AN Skripnikova student ID Zhilinskis - KV Nechitailo, MV Arkhangelsk, Vladimir Verbitsky, L. Lyakh and others.
Information and some photos taken from the site of the Sochi Art Museum. And some of the photos were taken by me, sorry for the lack of clarity did not come

That's strange, I read on the museum site on K. Kostandi:
"One of the earliest time creating landscapes in the exhibition" Classic seascape is a "sea" KK Kostandi (1852 - 1921). He studied at the Art Academy PP Chistyakov, was a member of the Association of Traveling art exhibitions. Since 1885 the artist lived and worked in Odessa (taught drawing and painting at the Odessa Art School, was one of the founders of the City Museum of Art), and, of course, the sea was one of the recurring themes of his work "

Particularly surprised by the phrase that "The sea was one of the constant themes of his work", I may have missed something, but it is the only picture with a sea view, which I saw (thanks to SergeiSK).

From the book "Cyriacus Kostandi and artists of the Greeks in Odessa, M.Kostandi," Memoirs of the father ":
"People often ask why his father, living by the sea (can you say, was born at sea), in his work is not portrayed the sea. In the few marine sketches attracted the attention of the artist nestolko sea, many of Odessa's beach, steep cliffs bolshefontanskie, but actually sea inferior role.
Do not whether this is due the fact that the broad expanses of ocean was a stranger to his chamber iskusstvu. No landscape, perhaps there were other reasons, so his father never liked to portray the sea.
I vspomonaetsya that his mother, who knew the family of her future husband, told me that in my childhood, my father survived a serious shock: in the storm, which often plagues autumn in Odessa coast, had not returned from the sea-fishing some fishermen friends of the family ottsa.Mozhet be vocpomonaniya this tragedy half alive the reason that the artist did not like to portray the marine stihiyu.Eto explanation, perhaps significantly, if we remember that his father represented in his art that he loved and that was precious to him. "

SergeiSK'll be very grateful if you can picture cfotografirovat K. Kostandi of your museum and signature
Maybe it Harlampi Kostandi? or all of the same Cyriacus Kostandi, then wonder how the picture got in your museum, just interesting creation date, in fact quite a rare thing!

At the end of the week will be in the museum and learn everything. Can we in something wrong, we have a small town and cultural life there
A photograph picture of K. Kostandi was inconvenient, because it hung over the entrance. Well, nothing to stand on a stool, but photograph "But the museum label reads" Cyriacus Kostandi, "The Sea" and the signature on the painting K. Kostandi.

I do not know, show it to me or not, but try.
