"Russian Beauty" was one of the most emotional show, among those that could see the beginning of 2009. And surely the most memorable. The idea of curators Gleb Yershov and Stanislav Savitsky is simple and brilliant: to show national theme, but not flirting with export motifs and cliches. Roughly speaking, no Sots-art, khokhloma and other simple politico-matreshechnyh recipes, so loved by the commercial public. Plus, no "itinerants". In the same "stop-list" will soon be time to turn on and flirting with the Russian poor. " But still can. On the whole challenge was to show the Russian theme by other means, without the special calculation to understand the "international" audience. Finally got a little cozy "anti-Biennale" - an exhibition, not drowned either in sarcasm, or in self-flagellation, or in messianism. It turns out that with the right mindset work confidently identified as Russian, which does not necessarily stick him with sickles, hammers, or pour oil. Surprising how much more about the nature of Russian beauty could say the sky reflected in a puddle of mud autumn, the moonshine glass is frozen for the traveler or the anguish the station waiting.
