По умолчанию Britain imposed a temporary ban on the export of Picasso

the UK Minister for Culture Ed Weise has imposed a temporary ban on the export of paintings by Pablo Picasso's "Child and Dove ', reports BBC News. This painting, exhibited in various museums in the UK since 1974, and in 2012 was sold abroad by auction house Christie's.

The ban of up to December 2012 was imposed due to the fact that the picture is a great cultural and historical importance to the UK. The country's authorities hope that the British Museum will be able to buy up the picture, having collected enough money before the end of the year. How much money has paid for Picasso's foreign buyer is not known, but previously reported that this work are estimated at approximately $ 80 million.

If prior to December 2012 someone will make a statement about the willingness to buy now, the ban on its export from the country may be extended for another six months. Previously, however, reported that the picture is too expensive for the British Museum, and they can hardly afford to buy it.

"The child and the Dove" is stored in private collections in the UK since 1924. In 1947 the picture was inherited by Christabel Eyberkonuey, after the death of that one of her heirs conveyed a picture of the National Gallery, where it was exhibited from 1974 to 2011. Now the picture is temporarily on display in Scotland.

Cloth "Child and Dove" was written in 1901, when Picasso was 19 years old. This painting is considered one of the first studies of so-called "blue" period of the artist.

По умолчанию The court forbade make curtain Picasso from the restaurant "Seasons"

Manhattan District Judge Matthew Cooper /Matthew Cooper blocked the transfer of the curtain for the ballet " Tricorne /Le Tricorne" from the Four Seasons restaurant premises of the building Seagram Building, where the restaurant owner rents a room :
there is fear that he would " like potato chips is broken " if the material is not pre preserve properly.
Building managers explained that the requirement to move the work of Picasso, was caused by the need to open access to the wall behind the curtain for troubleshooting in steam heating pipe in the wall .
Later, however, caused the engineers have not found any leaks in the wall a couple or most of the pipe itself . Then Seagram Building Management claimed that the wall with the web is in the area of the potential collapse of the building , but engineers are not confirmed this information.

This curtain to act ballets Leonide Massine was created in 1919 for the eponymous setting Ballets Russe Sergei Diaghilev.
Picasso created this ballet for all the sets and costumes , and July 22, 1919 at London's " Alhambra " was successfully held its premiere .

In May 1928, Diaghilev took the money for the formulation of new ballets , and he got permission from Picasso to sell part of the scenery - curtain depicting bullfighting. Diaghilev carved center curtain which shows the arena surrounded by spectators and sold . Curtain was purchased by Dr. Rebberom for his private collection , and purchase it then paid 175,000 francs.

Thirty years later - B57 - m - the curtain was in the collection of Samuel Bronfman /Samuel Bronfman and his family - well-known philanthropists who receive income from the millions of Joseph E. Seagram & Sons and support arts, culture and various Jewish charities . Brofman paid $ 50,000 for Le Tricorne.

When in 1959 was built skyscraper Seagram, owned Brofmanam " Tricorne " as fondly called here the curtain was hung in the corridor connecting the two rooms on the first floor opened Four Seasons restaurant with windows overlooking Park Avenue. On the fourth floor of the same building located gallery art and antique works , a collection which Brofman collected over many decades and the value of which some experts compare with the value of the Sistine Chapel.

However , the new generation in the person of Edgar Bronfman was interested not ancestral heritage and eternal art and desire to occupy a prominent place in the industry of mass entertainment . Foolishly , otherwise it does not name , Edgar Bronfman in 2000 sold " blue bird " family - Seagram skyscraper along with the entire art collection , part of which was the curtain Picasso, the French conglomerate Vivendi Universal for $ 34 billion .

But buying Seagram Building, Vivendi began to experience financial difficulties and to cover part of its debt of $ 12 billion , has decided to sell the collection stored in a skyscraper .
First went under the hammer is a unique collection of photographs by Walker Evans , Helen Levitt, Louis Forer and Rothko, which for several decades architect Phyllis Lambert collected - the daughter of Samuel Bronfman . For this collection Vivendi rescued only about $ 13 million - a speck compared to 12 billions !

The rest of the collection was also divided into parts and was to be sold at auction . Loss of this artistic heritage Phyllis Lambert called " Greek tragedy " and " an act of vandalism ."

In February 2003, Vivendi was going to sell on a private gated auction houses Christie's and Picasso curtain height of 6.6 meters, which for 44 years stretch hanging in the restaurant.
He not only graced the interiors of the restaurant , but was part of the exterior - through the huge windows of the skyscraper he was well looked from the street.

John Richardson , a historian , writer and biographer of Picasso, said Le Tricorne has unquestionable value as " one of the few surviving curtain Picasso ," but he also added that due to the fact that in times of Diaghilev curtain used often and probably not too well taken care of his safety , he could be restored and dorisovyvaetsya opponent's hand : « I do not know that someone was trying to assess whether it is original ».
Just three weeks Picasso painted it on a separate canvas , which was part of a huge curtain . Its something and then cut Diaghilev to sell when he needed money .
Using the studio adjacent to Covent Garden , Picasso canvas laid out on the floor and painted it with a brush attached to a broom handle , and for thinner parts used toothbrush.
« He wanted it to be reminiscent of Goya tapestries », - wrote Richardson. Since then, the curtain had aged and dilapidated black border places became dirty orange , and attempts to refurbish it led to the emergence of water spots on the most worn areas.

And yet , while in the dining room , the curtain was in ideal storage conditions - temperature, air humidity , the constant presence of people and their attention - about the same as in the theater. A potential new owner would have to have not only a lot of money to buy , but also a great location to hang in there its acquisition . According to some reports , the application for such a purchase has filed only one buyer . In any case, according to the residents of New York, Le Tricorne loss would be comparable to the loss of the Statue of Liberty .

In defense of the curtain , were frequent visitors to the restaurant Four Seasons, many of whom are film and pop stars. There were even attempts to raise money to buy back the curtain for the restaurant , but Christie's refused to officially announce its cost ( according to some sources the starting price of the curtain was supposed to be $ 8 million ) . But the large size reduces its market value , as well as his background as props .
In 2008 , when the owner decided to get the estimated value for insurance , Christie's estimated the work at $ 1.6 million .

On the other hand , attempts were made to persuade Vivendi that the reputation of the company as it would be far better to leave the curtain at a restaurant than to sell it , and expressed hope that the new owner did leave him hanging on display in the restaurant.

The situation was resolved only at the end of August 2003 , when Vivendi made the same decision , that Le Tricorne remain in a skyscraper . The restaurant owner Julian Niccolini Four Seasons /Julian Niccolin confirmed this , saying : « Picasso remains ! Vivendi gave it ».

And now, after 10 years, a question of " transfer ".
