 In the Literary Museum opened an exhibition Hulot Sooster (1924-1970), Soviet painter, representative of "unofficial art" 60-70-ies

On display are paintings of the author, as well as graphic works, book illustrations, etc. In the framework of the exhibition also demonstrates an animated film by Andrei Khrzhanovsky "Hulot Sooster," consisting of 2 parts: "Landscape with juniper" and "School of Fine Arts."

The project is organized within the framework of the exhibition program of the State Literary Museum, dedicated to creative non-conformist artists.

The exhibition is open at Trubnikovsky Lane., 17 before March 3

In the House Ostroukhova, a branch of the Literary Museum opened a retrospective of Hulot Sooster (1924-1970). In 1949-m Hulot Sooster graduated from Tartu Art Institute (formerly the Higher Art School "Pallas"): there the professors studied in Europe since surrealist revolution, the views were great, Western mores. Hulot-Ilmar Iogannesovich Sooster, painter and graphic artist, born in 1924 on the island of Hiiumaa, in the village Yuhtri Kyaynaskogo County, on the farm Pende.

In 1948 he graduated from the State Art Institute in the city of Tartu.

December 28, 1949, was arrested and convicted under Article 581-a period of ten years. Time served near Karaganda, Branch Dolinka, Karlag camp.

Released under the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of 24 March 1956.

Hulot was arrested along with a group of close-minded students who dreamed of after graduation probation in Paris or Italy.

Yulo was confident that he will definitely go for an internship abroad, but the trip never took place. The Soviet government eliminated that possibility. My first impression of the exterior Hulot was very flattering. He says not very clearly, probably from the excitement, rashristanny view, dangling cords on unpolished shoes, torn, scorched clothing. Sooster, Hulot ILMAR (1924-1970), painter, representative of the "informal" art.
Born on the island of Hiiumaa October 17, 1924 in the family farmer. Admitted to the Tartu Art Institute (1945). In 1949 he was arrested in Tallinn, for allegedly trying to seize the plane, and sentenced under Article 58 (political) article on 10 years in prison. Sentences in Dolinka under Karaganda, never ceasing to draw and camp. Released and rehabilitated in 1956. Since 1957 he lived in Moscow for a living, processing journals and books (published by "Knowledge", etc.). FARM TO Hiiumaa


 Recalled bitterly Hulot on his farm Pende on the island of Hiiumaa. There was a huge two-story house. The house was well maintained. Around the house - a wonderful orchard, who put great-grandfather, but still - the garden. On the farm it was all his own: sauna, stables, barn, smokehouse - the subject of the greatest love Hulot.

When we had no money to buy a piece of bread, Hulot often recalled his delicacies, which always hung in the smokehouse. In memory of little Hulot crashed the death of his beloved grandfather. Hulot remembered how entertaining his grandfather, as he liked to tell him stories and all sorts of unheard stories. My grandfather was a Protestant, very religious, but then, for unknown reasons, changed his faith and joined the Baptists. He built a chapel for their co-religionists and became a very respected preacher. He lived long and died at age ninety. He died on the evening in the garden near his house, and a small Hulot, who was with him, held next to the dead all night, hugging him and crying. In the morning they could hardly have found. The wound from the loss remained at Hulot rest of his life.

The memory of the ancestors is sacred, and the present great-grandchildren rebuild this church.

Father Hulot, Johannes was a poor peasant. General, the male line of the family took little interest in farming. They can say, were the lyrics, but not Pahari. I got to Karaganda, Hulot greeted me and took his bride on a truck in their own home in Dolinka. Hulot Sooster

Hulot Sooster (1924-1970) is now regarded as almost the most famous artist in their historic homeland - in Estonia. Kabakov he devoted a monograph.
