Sergei Prokudin -Gorskii photographed Russia a century ago, history has preserved for posterity its nearly 2,000 color photographs .
 
And all of them were later painted by the author or by our contemporaries who are now painted all , how can reach. Sergei Mikhailovich was a pioneer of color photography even in Tsarist Russia. And also a chemist who studied at the very Mendeleev , inventor, publisher , teacher and social worker.
 
Camera color camera , which filmed Prokudin -Gorskii - this is his invention , as well as the best in the world at that time sensitizer for film development and printing of photos slides. He photographed Chaliapin, Leo Tolstoy, meteor showers and solar eclipses , leaving an impressive legacy worldwide and significantly ahead of time. Now most of the heritage of Prokudin -Gorsky is stored in the Library of Congress.
