Descendant party Battle of Trafalgar sold at auction injured in the battle flag of the United Kingdom for 384,000 pounds (634,000 dollars), reports Reuters. Sold flag is the last surviving since the time the Union Jack.

The estimated cost of historical relics has been installed at around 15,000 pounds (25,000 dollars). "Union Jack" in several places damaged by bullets and shrapnel and a little smell of gunpowder, the agency said.

During the Battle of Trafalgar, which took place on Oct. 12, 1805 off the coast of Spain, the flag was on the English-deck ship "Spartans." After the battle flag became the owner of the Scottish Royal Navy Lieutenant James Clephane (James Clephan).

The new owner of the flag of 3,5 to 2,1 meters became a collector of U.S., whose identity was not disclosed. He said that paying such a high price for the Union Jack made him not only the history of the flag itself but also the personality of the former owner.

James Clephane was recruited into the Navy in 1794 at the age of 26 years and left the service only in 1840, rising to the rank of captain. Clephane is one of 16 sailors in the history of the British fleet, which had achieved such a title after the forced recruitment to the service.
