Garza (Garnik Zulumyan, 1907 - 2000) was born in the Syrian city of Aleppo, in the family photographer-Armenian. In 1924 he moved to France in 1925, he graduated from the Paris architectural school. In 1939 he had his first official exhibition.

The artist's works are exhibited in more than one hundred museums around the world. The most famous work Garzou - a series of paintings "The Apocalypse", is stored in the Armenian Church of the Holy Sahak in the French town of Manosque near Marseilles.

In 1956 the artist was awarded the rank of knight "Legion of Honor, in 1977 he was elected a member of the Academy of Fine Arts of France. In 1958, in Brussels, was the winner of the Grand Prix of Europe, and in 1955 was awarded the National Prize of education in Japan.

Garzou - illustrator of such famous works as "A Farewell to Arms" Ernest Hemingway, "Letters from my mill" Alphonse Daudet, "notebooks" Albert Camus, "France" Andre Maurois. The artist was also engaged in painting on porcelain, designed the theater in the Paris opera and ballet theaters.

The National Gallery of Armenia contains 305 works by the artist.
