Thank you, Kirill, for the wonderful reporting
But, very incidentally, is another story, recorded by me with the words, BK It is just about the workshop V. Mukhina:
"In this workshop Mukhina makes the model conceived by her sculpture" Worker and Collective Farm Girl ". The model was a ¼ of the actual size of the monument, but it still appears too large. A hand holding a hammer and sickle does not does not fit into existing dimensions, then had to hack ceiling and the roof and build a glass dome over the shop (see photo of Cyril Syzran). The final sculpture was made of stainless steel Elektrostal factory out of it, incidentally, made by lining the columns at the station Mayakovskaya and the Kremlin stars. Sculpture stood a long time, if inner frame was also made of stainless steel, and made it out of its usual iron.
When I moved in the late 70's in these parts, in the workshop were Fly-union restoration workshops. There I saw with my own eyes the real sarcophagus and the Egyptian Coptic fabrics. It was like this: for many years I walked past him, but somehow it never occurred to knock and volunteered to see this wonderful place inside. But once my friend brought the British people 20 sculptors from England to me in the studio. First they watched the work, then drank tea and wine and sandwiches, but when we went to a noisy herd of subway leave, we walked past the house Fly. I pointed them to the glass case, and explained that this cap was made for the hammer and sickle Mukhina's sculpture, not really hoping for is that they even know what it is. But it turned out that they know. Their hotel rooms in Cosmos straight out of the monument "Worker and Collective Farm Girl". What's with my English has become ... They chirped and fussed, saying that very much want to get inside. I had no choice but to strongly come to the door and knock. I opened the restorers once graciously invited inside. It's funny that none of the sarcophagi and other ancient British no interest. They got a video camera and a long shot at them legendary glass cover.
I continue to walk past every day, but unfortunately what is happening now in the studio I do not know. I only know that there, in a two-story apartment adjacent to the huge amount of studio living intelligent woman, a descendant (probably a granddaughter) Fly and walks in the courtyard of the studio with two luxurious Russian hounds.
