At the auction held in London on Tuesday evening, February 2, Picasso was sold for 8.1 million pounds (13 million) - more than twice the preliminary estimate of 3-4 million pounds. Portrait of his wife, painted by the artist in 1963, the last 30 years belonged to a private collector and do not put up for tender.
