I'm on presskarton (DWT) pulled the purchase primed canvas. That is, if size is not big, my 30 to 21.5 cm. Canvas something time-tested. I have a few older works written primed hardboard 10-15 ten years ago. It seems to me that they dry up and darken over time. I think the hardboard has a porous structure and all the time "pulls" of oil paint to canvas. Canvas thin and has a "pulling" oil characteristics. With modern synthetic is better not to get involved. Chemists would say that the synthetic molecules are not stable and it decomposes over time.
