Allena, you are 100%right. The monastery seen under such foreshortening as in the picture (where the two towers are visible only to its walls) only from the west or north-west (see types of satellite), ie where proceeds Gatehouse. The river flows south of Moscow (see type 1), and with its shores monastery can be seen in perspective.
