GONCHAROVA, Natalya (1881-1962) and Mikhail LARIONOV (1881-1964). L'Art décoratif théatral moderne. Paris: La Cible, 1919.
2 ° (500 x 325mm). 6 (of 8) pochoirs, 8 plates, 5 of these colour lithographs, and 11 in-text reproductions. Original limp printed portfolio (a few small repairs, a few small chips to the spine, ties? Renewed).
ONE OF 100 DELUXE COPIES SIGNED BY GONCHAROVA AND LARIONOV, this one n ° 87. With both Goncharova pochoirs in bright state. This impressive portfolio was published for Larionov and Goncharova's large exhibition of their theatrical work, held at the Galerie Barbazanges to celebrate their arrival in Paris. It comprises a series of pochoirs and prints of several of the designs on display. Valentin Parnack's essay discusses Larionov's theories about dance and theatre, and singles out the artist as the initiator of new types of choreography, including dances based on free movements, types of gait, animal movements, mechanical dance, and social dance related to work. Not in The Russian Avant-Garde Book. Hellyer 408; The Russian Avant-Garde and American Abstract Artists, 1983, n ° 16 and 17 (illustrated p. 38).
