That's right, not only in anthropology but in philosophy - see "The creative evolution" of Bergson, where he wrote:

It is also used in sociology - see "Homo ludens, an essay about the social role of the game" Johan Hyuitsinga, adding contrast Homo sapiens (man, capable of abstract thinking) /Homo faber (man capable of inventing mechanical devices), the third characteristic - Homo ludens (the person who can leave their real lives through the game).
