I do not know how now, thirty years ago some sort in the Russian language the phrase homo faber identify activities that a business person.
In some context it can be read as rukomeslenny man, craftsman, even an artist, the creator. In the latter sense it is used in the famous novel by Max Frisch, who had a marked influence on postwar European literature.

 In anthropology, the term refers to people - the creator of tools, in contrast to homo sapience , Homo sapiens.
