In the search for new ways to detect counterfeit E. Basner long consulted with scientists. The result revealed that there is a difference between originals, written in the prewar period, and spin, created after the war: paint contains traces of past nuclear testing - radioactive isotopes. Previously the only way to find out the age pattern was radiocarbon analysis - a method allowing to determine the half-life of carbon atoms. Meanwhile, the technology is complex and not always effective. In particular, it can not be applied to works written by less than one hundred years ago, for example the works of German Expressionism and Russian Avant-Garde, that is, those tendencies, which most often counterfeited today, reports IA "Russian antiques.
A team of scientists led by Elena Basner has patented a new technology and conducted the first examination. Thus was proved the authenticity of K. Hunchback, dated 1919, however, the demand for isotopic analysis was not as high as might be expected. According to E. Basner, "Collectors and dealers do not want us to come. They are afraid. The market will resist the new technology: too many people who are interested in the fact that the forgeries were in circulation".
