How did it get interesting work in a museum?
The painting "Portrait of the Doge Girolamo Priuli" oil on canvas, 67h50 see was transferred to the Odessa Museum of Western and Eastern art from the Hermitage in 1949. The Hermitage received in 1931 from the Leningrad antiques. On the back of the picture preserved stickers showing her sojourn in the collections of Cardinal Silvio Valenti (Rome) and Prince Lev Kochubey. Also on the reverse side of the canvas inscription "Tiziano". The painting by the Italian artist XVIII vtrf J. Pannini, depicting the interior of the Roman palace of Gonzaga, where there was a collection of paintings, a portrait of the Doge is clearly visible, reminiscent of Odessa. As published in the XVIII century. catalog the collection numbered Gonzaga, coinciding with the number on the sticker, it means "Portrait of a Venetian doge in the manner of Titian."

In 1966 the painting was restored in the Central Restoration Workshops them. Grabar and Moscow. Then was found the inscription "TI" over the shoulder doge and found that the painting in his time was cut at the edges and around the XVIII century duplicated on a new canvas.
