In 1963, the Berlin gallery Werner and Katz organized his first personal exhibition. The exhibition scandal: few works were confiscated, among other things, a canvas depicting a naked man (Nackter Mann), and self-portrait as a teenager masturbating (Großer Nacht im Eimer) in the gallery was a bailiff. The trial lasted until 1965, when the recovered paintings were returned to the artist.
