Bahchanyan was born in Kharkov, graduated from the local studio of decorative art. In 1965, the first time participated in an informal exhibition.
Friends with the writers Yuri Ìèëîñëàâñêèì and Eduard Savenko, who invented the nickname - Limonov.
Since mid-1960 Bahchanyan lived in Moscow, worked in the Literary Gazette. Many of his quip was folklore: "We were born to make Kafka come true", "All power - the sonnet," "Bay thumbs - save Russia!".
In 1974 Bahchinyan emigrated, settling in New York, where he continued to work actively. In the post-Soviet Russia published literary and graphic works Bahchanyana.
