Genus. 1932 Ulafsvik. French artist of Icelandic origin. He studied at the Academy of Arts in Reykjavik and Oslo (1952-1954), then at the Art Academy of Florence studied the technique of mosaic (1955-1958). In 1958 settled in Paris. Participated in various artistic events, happenings, political speeches artists, was one of the pioneers of video art. As a painter represents the direction of "Figuration narrative" (Narrative image) close to its principles of pop art and surrealism. Picturesque Arrow system is based on combinations of visual and semantic transformations of elements borrowed from the sphere of popular culture (comic books, print advertising).
In his paintings the space is densely filled with figures and objects that crowd each other, threatening to break out of the huge canvases. Subject deafening onslaught of consumer products and images of mass media becoming a topic of direct aggression - a merciless assault on nature and the follies of wars, revolutions and coups. Another line in painting Arrow - combine in a single space are incompatible figures and events - close to the direction of Sots Art. The most famous was a series of American interiors, where armed fighters of the Viet Cong lined up outside the windows manicured rooms, threatening to "the American way of life."
