House Christie's rated "Muse" by Raphael in 26 million dollars
House exhibited at Christie's London auction on Dec. 8, 2009 a small drawing by Raphael Sanzio, entitled "Head of the Muses" with the assessment of 12-16 million pounds, that is 20-26 million dollars. Reuters has noted that the existing record on the schedule of the old masters of 8.1 million pounds: for this amount in 2000 was sold to the Risen Christ by Michelangelo, and in 2001 - "Horse and Rider" by Leonardo da Vinci.
"Head of the Muse" - a sketch by Raphael to one of the female figures for "Parnassus," a large frescoes in the Stanza della Senyatura, one of the rooms in the papal palace at the Vatican, which the artist painted in 1508 - 1511 years of commissioned Julia II.
At the same the December auction of old masters and artists of the XIX century house Christie's exhibited male portrait by Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn (25 million pounds) and now John the Evangelist "of Domenichino, a major Italian baroque painter of XVII century. Canvas with St. estimated at 7.10 million pounds.
