По умолчанию EUGENE BUKOVETSKY Iosifovich

Like almost all artists of Odessa, Odessa Bukovetsky finished drawing school, entered the Academy of Arts, but soon left her and went to complete their education in Paris and Munich. In Odessa, he returned in 1891 and from then on continuously participated in exhibitions in southern Russian artists, and in 1894, together with Nilus became the author of the statute of the Association. Suffice it off, Bukovetsky was not bound by the need to work on an order or to teach, moreover, sometimes acted as a patron. Thus, the issuance of commemorative exhibition catalog V TYURH was carried out at his own expense.

In 1919 Bukovetsky in his home on the Princely, 27, opened an art studio, though short-lived.
In the 20-ies. he became one of the founders of the Art Association. K. Kostandi. And since 1937, began teaching at the Odessa Art College. He has written hundreds of portraits of his fellow citizens, so that it can rightly be considered a portrait of all of Odessa.

Interesting memories of Bukovetskom left
VN Muromtseva-Bunin (Life Bunin. Conversations with memory. - Moscow, 1989).

1898
"From this year he (IA Bunin) arises friendship with the Odessa artists, who in 1890 formed the" Association of South Russian Artists ", the most glory shall have been Kostandi.

He began to attend dinners Bukovetskogo, who, being a wealthy man, arranged a feast, but invited only men. Dinners are weekly on Thursdays. To them is fun, noisy, casually; table near Bukovetskogo different subtlety and originality - the fish was served to the soup. Bukovetsky, refined man, intelligent, with great taste, tried to be all fine. He painted portraits. One thing it was acquired by the Tretyakov Gallery ( "The rich cousin. 1891. Acquired by PM Tretyakov in 1892 by the author).

1902
"He used it (Bunin) at meetings of artists. Bukovetsky was married, he lived in a lovely mansion in princely and not so often took his friends and acquaintances. Artists have decided to continue its" Thursday "and collected on these days in restaurant. They chose a restaurant Dodi, where the second floor was a large parlor, where he stood the entire length of the room table. They laid on him the entire length of their albums, and drew each other once they were served dinner, hearty, with plenty of wine , each paid for themselves.

Sause sat for pyanino. Nilus with Kurowski often sang duets, were both musicians, both had a pleasant voice. Bunin told, was all in the faces, and sometimes, when he was particularly lively and fun, dancing. Each showed their talent. Women are rarely invited. Female Odessites ever, but visitors are sometimes allowed. I have been at these dinners, when we stayed in Odessa - all our journey, wherever we kept the road began and ended in Odessa. All participants "Thursday" strongly liked these friendly gatherings.

1909
"Bukovetsky was above average height, slim, moderately thin, with regular features, with wavy brown hair. He had a very fragile health in youth with severe headaches and prolezhival in a dark room for days on end. He was a man with great taste and to quirks, with a strict distribution of the day. He was two years ago suffered a heavy drama: his wife divorced him and married his nephew. (Fedorov in the novel "Nature" took his prototype for the hero and predicted the divorce.) Now he lived one, but all my free time from work and all sorts of personal affairs - his leisure - he shared with Peter Alexandrovich Nilus, with whom he lived in the most tender friendship.

In the writings of portraits and daily playing the piano in the evenings, Bukovetsky nothing is no longer engaged (Peter Alexandrovich Nilus conducted all his affairs). He has at the very top of the house was a beautiful studio, carpeted, with comfortable furniture and a huge window above the couch. In this studio was a lot of icons, which he collected - all their circle of fascinated antikvarstvom.

Bukovetsky, "the enemy general, all of Odessa's wives", is very highly friendship hosted by the Men's dinners on Sundays, gave me attention. He spoke little, briefly, but accurately. We rode through the best streets of Odessa through Marazlievskuyu and French Boulevard to the sea. They left the crew, a little stroll. Everything was decorous, for the premeditated program. Then he went to dinner at the prince, where Bukovetskogo a tenement house, but for himself he built a house in two floors, with great taste and convenience.

Riding up to him, we went to high main entrance doors. I was struck by the lobby: on the wall hung a huge panel in green tones. Immediately there was a long kinking sofa in front of him - a table with high lamp.

The host led us up the wide staircase with beautiful dark brown wooden railing. A two-storey mansion Bukovetskogo inside was all trimmed with dark wood. With spacious grounds a small door led to the balcony, next is a cozy living room and a huge studio - almost the whole wall window on the north - with his easel, frame, and several portraits. In this house was, and art gallery with works of master and local artists. They were mostly sketches. But I did not have time to read this time with the pictures.

All the rooms were very high and spacious. We went downstairs, and Bukovetsky showed me his room and bedroom. And I never thought that in these rooms we live in a decade.

1910
"In Odessa, it was a pleasure to live. We met with the artists. They are still staged three times a week" stag ": Sunday - at Bukovetskogo, Thursday - at a restaurant, Dodi, and on Saturdays - from someone from the circle of friends. There then could attend and mistress of the house. I was already less disturbed, maybe because I was more busy: set about the French language, hoping to do translations and went to the sessions to Bukovetskomu - he wrote to me in a velvet coat and fur hat (taken from upper part of the portrait I have one). (The portrait is located in Orel, the Museum of Turgenev).

Conversations were difficult, had to stand for long periods, but with Bukovetskim was always interesting. He was able to hold their nature, and it does not stop him from writing.

He aptly described their friends and acquaintances. About his relationship with Nilus said:
- We're linked very long chain and can sometimes far away from each other, but it never tear. It is necessary and in family life - not interfere with each other, and after rushing to return home. "

Bukovetskim gathered an extensive collection of paintings, many of whom are of South Russian artists. Interesting information about the composition of this collection contains a note Zolotova art critic in the newspaper "Odessa leaf"
on October 17, 1916: - "It is interesting to say a few words about the workshop EI Bukovetskogo, which at the same time is a valuable gallery of paintings. It is one of the richest private collections of paintings in Odessa.
Unfortunately, the general public visiting this gallery is not available.
This gallery has collected the best examples of French modern art, many here also works and Russian masters.
Among the paintings by French artists here you can see pictures of Aman-Jean, Taulova (Taulou), I. Adler, Maurice; from Russian: design (optional) Polenova famous painting of "Christ and the Sinner", Serov, Ap. Vasnetsov, Repin (Portrait of An. Vasnetsova), Dvornikova, Kostandi and friend. Many paintings by old masters XVI, XVII and XVIII centuries. Collected EI Bukovetskim not only paintings, but also very valuable Italian ceramics XVII century, of great interest in terms of forms and combinations of colors, then the samples of Japanese art, as well as ancient Greek vases. There is a small collection of antique prints and tapestries of high artistic value.

After the death Kostandi in 1921 a committee was formed to perpetuate the memory of the artist.
Proposal Bukovetskogo on the organization of the Company. KK Kostandi was supported by pupils and friends Kyriakos Konstantinovich. Thanks to the efforts of this committee a year later at the grave of the deceased was erected monument. This is a simple base made of polished gray granite, placed on the granite steps, and screwed it on top of the four brass screws polished white marble plaque with a brief inscription: "Academic art Kyriakos K. Kostandi 1852 - 1921.

On our second Christian cemetery, on the left side of the temple, next to each other are now former friends-artists, teachers and students, some of the brightest representatives and the founders of the southern Russian school.
