If the "odd jobs" signature on your image in Photoshop, we can see that it is the monogram of the letters overlapping MS (ill.1). A similar monogram stands on one of the paintings sold at auction Christies (see http://www.christies.com/LotFinder/l...jectID=4394352; ill. 2), but experts Christies it has not been solved, ie painting was sold as a painting by an unknown artist.

In general, closest to the mark monogram was an Austrian painter Moritz von Schwind (Moritz von Schwind, 1804 - 1871). On the Internet many reproductions of his work, stating that he had signed and monogrammed MS, but I managed to find it only on the print of his personal seal (ill. 3), rather than any of his works (maybe you are succeed). However, the number given by you, if it is interpreted as a date does not match the dates of life of this artist.

There is a website www.findartinfo.com, where you can search for the monogram. As a result, you get a list of artists who have ever signed such a monogram (for monogram MS dozens of artists). Next, you still do the work to search for works by these artists, and compared them with your monograms. Good luck!
