In Moscow show high-tech-art
At the festival of digital art in Moscow, the artists will show their vision of an "alternative", created with the help of new technologies.
In the third Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art from September 19 to October 2, will be held annually (sixth), Festival of Digital Art Art Digital, on the relationship of art and new technologies. «Art Digital 6: The Other" - a visual study of the concept of "otherness". Placed quite simply, the main question, which is responsible Exhibition - "What does today - to be the alternative?".
Among the issues raised by the artists - the importance of social relationships in contemporary society, as well as the choice of the most vulnerable social groups, whose rights must defend art. "Who is it today - homosexuals, women, immigrants, or someone else?" - Ask the organizers of the festival. Each of the artists offered his view of these problems.
For example, someone criticizes the degree of cultural influence on society of modern art, which is commonly regarded as popular today. Others question the "fabricated the truth", which are stuffed credulous audience media. Someone, on the contrary, locked in his own little world, where personal desires and experiences dominate the global social problems.
Despite the fact that all the works in the exhibition have a strong personality, they argue that art which we call "modern", a revolutionary by its very nature - because it does not fit the picture of the world, which draws the world of capital and political power, and which is usually called "mainstream".
One of the projects presented at the Art Digital, - work by Alexandra Dementieva, entitled "The Unbearable Lightness". A vertical video projection stained-glass windows at a distance of 2 meters from where the floor is an interactive mat. If you stand on it, the picture comes to life: saints on stained glass slowly become astronauts. The rate of their transformation is so low that their eyes are beginning to notice it only after 1.5 minutes - too long for visitors. This work is dedicated to expectation, through which passes an ordinary PC user or viewer, used to manage the process and accelerate it to obtain the desired object or movie as soon as possible.
Art Digital will be held at the Center for Contemporary Art in M'ARS Pushkariov Lane, 5. According to organizers, is the largest festival of digital art in Russia, first held in 2003, its main objective - promotion of art, created with the help of new technologies.
