"Jack of Diamonds" - Association of Moscow artists, leading the beginning
of the same name of the exhibition, organized in 1910 by His members had VD and

Kulbin, Mikhail Larionov, AV Lentulov, Kazimir Malevich, Ivan Mashkov, R.
Falk, V. Rozhdestvensky, etc. The name belongs to M. Larionov,
which apparently was referring to the negative interpretation of the image in the spirit
old French interpretation of a playing card: Jack of Diamonds --
rascal, rogue. "Explaining his choice, the artist said:" Too many
pretentious title ... as a protest, we decided, the worse the better
... What could be more absurd than the "Jack of Diamonds"? ".

      For the artists association is characterized by pictorial and plastic in the quest
spirit of post-impressionism. Bubnovovalettsy developed a peculiar
pictorial-plastic system (the so-called Russian sezannizm), where
principles of Cubism and Fauvism, implemented with the influence of Russian folk
Art - lubok, painting on wood and ceramics and paintings and trays

the association itself, corroded by internal divisions, was
short-lived. In 1911 he left most of the radical
artists (Burliuks, Goncharova, Larionov and others), oriented in their
works on samples of folk and primitive art, kubofuturizma,
abstract art. They organized an independent exhibition Poldi
epatage called "Donkey's Tail". In 1916-17 gg. Another group of artists,
professed moderate and committed to a more traditional easel
picture (Konchalovsky, Mashkov, Kuprin, Lentulov, Christmas, Falk)
passed to the "World of Art". After this "Jack of Diamonds
virtually ceased to exist.
