Court of Queen's Bench of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan found guilty of inciting hatred of people who posted in the local newspaper quotes from the Bible condemning homosexuality.

After the newspaper "Saskatoon Star Phoenix published quotations from the Bible in the private section of advertisements in 2001, three activists of the gay movement in Saskatchewan filed a complaint with the Commission on Human Rights of the province. After considering the complaint, the Commission issued an order according to which and the newspaper and Hugh Owens, put ads were supposed to pay outraged activists by 1,5 thousand Canadian dollars (about 1 thousand U.S. dollars). Owens and editorial challenged this ruling in the Court of Queen's Bench.

In the ads Owens in "Saskatoon Star Phoenix", quotations from the Bible (from the books of Leviticus, Corinthians, Romans, etc.) were placed in the left side of the newspaper strip. On the right is an icon depicting two men holding hands. The figures for men were placed in a red circle and crossed out. Between the "prohibition signs and the Biblical quote was located mathematical sign of equality. "In my opinion, the judge had rightly recognized these ads hate - said Judge George Berkeley. - Words from the Bible, which states that a man who sleeps with a man to be killed, is a call to violence and incitement to hatred against homosexuals. " Thus, if we follow the logic of the Canadian judges accomplices in the case of Owens quotes should recognize the prophet Moses, the Apostle Paul and the Lord God!

"The court decision, which had found utterance of the Scriptures incitement to hatred and enmity, proves once again how dangerous it is for Christians the adoption of Bill C-250", - said the chief lawyer of the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada Janet Epp Buckingham. "Bill C-250" was introduced in Parliament MP Svend Robinson. "Bill" proposes to include a reference to sexual orientation in Canadian law on hate crimes.
