Honored Artist of Ukraine Vasily Andreyevich Ponikarov was born August 26, 1929 in the Odessa region.
Education: Odessa Art College named. Grekov, 1958, Moscow Polygraphic Institute, 1970.
Leads the exhibitions since 1965. Solo exhibitions were held in Odessa (1984, 1986), in Kiev (1987). The artist's works were presented at exhibitions in Hungary (1969.1977, 1980), Bulgaria (1970), Italy (1974, 1976, 1982, 1990), France (1974), Switzerland (1985), Finland (1987), Russia (1991 , 1992), Israel (1993), Mexico (1996).
The artist-virtuoso, who knows all the secrets of watercolor and complex genre of painting, in which almost nothing is impossible to correct, Basil Ponikarov creates in his paintings as harmonious and joyful world, it seems that they are born easily and without strain.
Works are in art museums and private collections in Odessa, Ukraine and many countries in Europe and America.

The exhibit opened Aug. 28 in the Odessa Museum of Western and Oriental art. The exhibition housed in three rooms of the ground floor of the museum. Just crossing the threshold, it seems that you are in the middle of a huge flower beds - so bright, light and airy work created by the artist. The opening was also attended by one of the most successful artists - those from the USSR - Yuri Gorbachev, a personal exhibition which opened on the eve of Odessa.
