Juan Gris
Another brilliant representative of cubism - Juan Gris (Juan Gris)
Real name - Jose Victoriano Gonzalez
23 March 1887 Madrid - May 11, 1927 Boulogne-Billancourt, France
Spanish painter, sculptor, graphic artist and painter, one of the founders of Cubism. He worked mainly in Paris, where he lived from 1906 to earn his first life drawings for comic books and also studied painting. In 1906 Gris arrived in Paris and settled in Montmartre, not far from his compatriot Pablo Picasso.
His paintings, often including the method of collage (his favorite genre, like other Cubists, a still-life) has a special color harmony and compositional elegance that perfectly expresses the principle of contrast-balancing "golden section" (the name of a landmark exhibition Cubists in 1912).
In the formative years, in the early Paris period (1906-1912), was carried away Gris Cubism. His early work (1911-1912) performed in "analytical" manner, rising as a Cezanne or a Picasso and Braque. Rapidly developing, Gris already in 1913-1914 produces its own version of "synthetic" cubism.
Among his works are a series of book illustrations and numerous theatrical scenery and costumes, such as Diaghilev productions.
My favorite work - Violin and Fruit, Fruit, and the book, open window.
