CASAS Carbo, Ramon (Casas Carbo, Ramón)
1866, Barcelona - 1932, Barcelona. Spanish painter, draftsman. He studied in Barcelona in a private school of painting. Sooner went to Paris, where he studied at the studio of the painter Sh Karolyusa-Durand. Already early work Casas showed his talent as a portraitist. Self-Portrait (1883, Barcelona, Museum of Modern Art) was submitted to the Salon des Champs Elysees 1883. Creativity Casas developed under the influence of Art Nouveau and French impressionism. Meeting in Paris with S. Rusinol and French critic Michel Utrillo marked the beginning of their long artistic friendship. Returning to Barcelona, Casas rallied round a young artists in the cafe Els Quatre Ghats "(" Four cat "), which became the center of artistic avant-garde in Catalonia. He took an active part in the festivities of the new art in Sitges, organized by S. Rusinol; worked in magazines Quatre Ghats, sang and Ploma, shape, illustrated many publications, wrote the posters.
