Stored since 1886 at the Royal Museum of Art in Antwerp painting "Portrait of Pastor Svalmiusa" after the restoration work is recognized by Rembrandt Harmensz van Rijn. According to the newspaper The Times, the cost of painting at once rose from one million euros to 20 million.

At the end of XIX century Antwerp art critics were convinced that purchased the original of Rembrandt, but after a while varnish on canvas, much darker, and confidence in the authenticity missing. In 1969, now examined by experts from organizations Rembrandt Research Project, which deals with authenticating works of the artist and the study of his work. Staff RRP recognized the work of a pupil of Rembrandt's painting Govert Flink. However, after extensive restoration and research "Portrait of Pastor Svalmiusa" sponsored by the private sponsor, the museum was able to prove ownership of paintings Rembrandt himself. In particular, the examination found that the picture painted on canvas from the same roll, for which tissue was taken for the two undisputed works by Rembrandt, held in St. Petersburg and Frankfurt.

Rembrandt Research Project has included stored in Antwerp portrait in its list of originals by Rembrandt, now consisting of 310 works.
