In chamber Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve opened the exhibition Alexander Benois de Stetto. "Return to Russia.
The exhibition, organized by St. Petersburg social fund to promote culture and art of Vladimir-Suzdal Museum-Reserve, is part of a larger exhibition project for the return of Russian art in the context of the bright name that embodies the mutual influence and close ties of Russia and European culture. The exhibition features over 80 paintings and graphic works by Alexander Benois de Stetto in the genres of landscape, portrait, still life, animalistic sketches.
Alexander Siegfried Buhard Levi-Benoit de Stetto - a St. Petersburg native, a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts, left Russia in 1922, he lived a long and meaningful life: "entered the twentieth century is the age of four and with the new century has experienced major developments in history of art. "Destiny is not bestowed it. He fought for the right to be a free man for the privilege of doing things you love and have succeeded in this, though, and paid a heavy price - a long forgotten at home," - told in the museum.
Di Stetto left no memoirs, preserved a few letters, which is not easy to restore the facts of biography, but he was so eagerly and directly perceives the world around us, with such generosity splashed his impressions on canvas, that his work can tell a lot about him. Portraits, landscapes, still lifes, drawings Animalistic able to tell a story of love, ecstasy, devotion to beauty, melancholy meditation. Alexander Benois de Stetto never returned to Russia, but to tell about the artist, whose soul has always kept the memory of the homeland, returned to his work and family heirlooms.
