A similar case occurred with the work of OA Vukolova, now living in Paris, when his work is among the five (by fate not returned the artist), was exhibited at the famous Moscow auction. Artist someone informed about this and on his arrival in Moscow, he went straight to the auction house. The painting was removed from the auction (and the organizers are not obliged to explain why), and returned to the author.
Details I do not know, but now returned AUTHOR.
