Lazarus Volovik (1902 - 1977)
Born in Ukraine in Kiev, where he studied at the School of Fine Arts. In 1920 he emigrated. During the year wandering around Europe, met with the artist Tereshkovich. In 1921, arrived in Paris, settled in the Montparnasse district and enrolled in the Academy of the Grand Shomer and Kolarossi. He was familiar with most of the artists of that time, in particular with Puni, Lprionovym, Goncharova, Alexandra Exter, Blondet, Naidich, with whom they were friends. He went and the Hive, where he met Soutine, Flint, Kikoin, participated in the activities of the Union of Russian Artists. He married at one of the ballerinas of the Russian ballet, Leah Grzhebinoy, which became known teacher of dance.
