Surrealism and Fragrances
At the end of life of Spanish genius managed to take part in the perfume business.
"They gave to me remains one of the greatest artists of all time. He was a nonconformist and an eternal experimenter. I, being a perfumer, saw spirits the ideal point of contact between art and fashion "- said Jean-Pierre Grivori (Jean-Pierre Grivory), creator of the brand Parfums Salvador Dali.
Grivori says that he had high hopes of success, first time writing a letter to Dali. At that time he was little known in the perfume business.
"I think that simply guessed the time. I sent him a letter in July 1981. His private secretary at that time was away, and Dali himself checked the mail. Apparently, it is really interested in my proposal. We met at his home in the Chateau de Pubol (Catalonia, Spain), and he personally agreed to participate in this project. He never asked about my previous experience and merit. Later, I was interested in his secretary, why Dali chose me, because other major perfume company offered him such cooperation. It turns out that the whole thing was that I gave him the opportunity to manage the process, while others wanted only to use his name. "
Dali himself performed sketch bottle, based on one of his paintings - "The manifestation of a person Knidosskoy Aphrodite. Grivoli liked the choice, because Aphrodite is the goddess of love and beauty, which certainly suited for a new perfume. "In the future, Daly said a little more nose and lips: the nose is responsible for the smell, and her lips symbolize sensual femininity. I liked this design ", - says Grivoli.
While Daly was busy working on the bottle, the creation of fragrance it is fully transferred to the management Grivoli. The artist only asked to be present in the fragrance of jasmine - his favorite flower - and roses - his favorite flower of his wife and muse Gala.
Flower fragrance under the name of Salvador Dali made his debut in 1983. First, he was released a limited edition, and two years later went into the mass market. The bottle was immediately recognizable among the other submitted if the market fragrances.
Lips were one of the favorite parts of the body in Dali. Their images are found on other brand bottles, but the picture with Aphrodite is not the only inspiration. After Salvador Dali died in 1989, Grivoli continued to cooperate with the Gala-Salvador Dali Foundation - a company created Dali and his wife Galoy.
"In 1994, for flavor Dalissime we used one of Dali's paintings of Christmas. It seems three-dimensional, because it used a stereoscopic effect (when the two images together to create the impression of three-dimensional). In the bottle, we also used this technique.
Painting Le Roy Soleil, written in 1945, was inspired by the Sun King Louis XIV. Dali admired that the ruler of the XVII century, known for his creativity and love for fashion and beautiful way of life. In turn, this pattern served as the inspiration for men's fragrances Le Roy Soleil (1998) and Black Sun (2007), which appeared in bottles, decorated with the image of the sun.
Fragrances Daliflor and Dalistyle send us back to the painting in 1935 "Woman with head of roses."
Dali often used part of his own paintings in the works in other areas. Thus, in 1949 he created the famous Brooch Rubylips. In the shape of the mouth, it was made out of rubies and pearls, which symbolized the lips and teeth, respectively. Based on this design have been implemented vials of aromas Rubylips, Purplelips and Purplelights - each of them decorated uzobrazheniem five pairs of lips, etched in the transparent glass.
