Paul Emil Jacobs (1802-1866)

First version of the original picture, written by P. E. Jacobs in 1840. commissioned by the King to his palace Vurttembergskogo «Villa Wilhelma». A replica of this painting, executed in 1842, was sold at Sotheby's on April 17 2008. The original title of the painting corresponded eastern colors Wilhelm. Ali Pasha (1789-1834), born in g.Tepeleni, Albania, became the ruler of Ioannina (Greek Town), after numerous revolts and wars. Many Greeks were known to him, and his court assembled a well-educated people. Through its relationship with Britain and Napoleon Bonaparte, he became well-known figure in the Western world. He visited Lord Byron during his travels in the region, mention of Ali Pasha in French literature can be found in Victor Hugo, Alexander Dyumy and Balzac. His turbulent life attracted interest, and his great wealth and famous Harem become legendary. Fascinated by the personality of Ali Pasha and his love story with Kira Vassiliki, philhellenic many artists of that time portrayed them both, but this plot Jacobs became a model and has inspired many artists to create these paintings.
