One of the few who are called "outstanding Ukrainian painter.
Bokshay Joseph I. (1891-1975)
He graduated from the Budapest Academy of Fine Arts (1910-1914, IV Revesz). Lived and worked in Uzhgorod. Member of the USSR Union of Artists since 1948 Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1951), People's Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1961), People's Artist of the USSR (1963), Corresponding Member. USSR Academy of Arts in 1958 awarded the Labor Red Banner, Badge of Honor, a medal.
However Adalbert Erdelyi opened the first art school in Transcarpathia (1927). Taught in Uzhgorod College of Applied Arts (1945-1957) and the Lviv Institute of Applied and Decorative Arts (1951-1957). Transcarpathian Regional Museum of Art is the name of the artist. Has a galaxy of disciples, wearing the title of Honored and folk artists of Ukraine and of a phenomenon called "Transcarpathian School of Painting.
