По умолчанию Results of Russian book lots at Christie's auction 1 and June 3

Anatoly Borovkov: "bidding, which I wrote in a previous preliminary review concluded yesterday. Here are some results .."

Auction on June 1

Lot 248, a collection of Georgian futurists «H2SO4». I just now saw the disgusting image of a preserved cover, so the sale price of 1 180 pounds (1 900 dollars), with Estimé at 800-1200 pounds, normal for this instance.

Lot 249, "Coats of arms ...", as I noted earlier, the most interesting Russian unit of the auction, sold for 6 000 pounds (9 750 USD), with lower Estimé 3 000 pounds.

Lot 251, Kruchenykh "Vozropschem", not sold.

But sold several lots, which I did not write. This is lot 28, original letters of Anton Chekhov to estimate: 2-3 thousand pounds (I confess, I buy myself, so described), we request a £ 5000, went lot of 5 250 lb (8 547 USD).

CHEKHOV, Anton Pavlovich (1860-1904). Autograph letters to Anna Mikhailovna Evreinov, signed "A. Chekhov. February 8 [1889]

Under number 253 for 1 625 pounds (2 600 dollars) a book for sale with a libretto by Pushkin opera "The Golden Cockerel" in 1909 with illustrations by I. Bilibin. For Russia's market is sharply lower in Estimé at 700 pounds.

And it is quite expensive, for 3 750 pounds (6 000 USD), left Lot 254 - "Eugene Onegin" Pushkin in 1937 with illustrations by M. Dobuzhinsky.

Lot 41. The score of Tchaikovsky autograph sold for 97 250 pounds (159 000 dollars).

Lot 91. I ignored the Coronation of Alexander II "in the language was sold for 58 850 pounds (96 000 dollars)!

"Byzantine enamel" Zvenygorodska (lot 95) sold for 27 500 pounds.

I have not described Lot 97 - engraved "Plan of St. Petersburg in 1753, by Makhaev, at the bottom Estimé of 4 000 pounds, sold for 16 250 pounds (26 500 dollars).

Classics of Russian science is not interested buyers: lots 98 (Mendeleev) and 104 (Popov) - not sold.

But "The Defense" (Lot 102), first edition with notes by Nabokov himself, at the bottom Estimé at 4 000, sold for 10 650 pounds.

Six volumes of the ten "Armorial" (Lot 103) with a high estimate, marked by me, and have remained unsold.

Not that I have mentioned in a previous review of 39 lithographs Plouchard 1825, published in St. Petersburg, sold for 9 375 pounds.

Lot 108 (Tolstoy), as I predicted, not sold.

Just below the lower estimate was purchased I mentioned watercolors on the Crimean War (Lot 107) - 39 650 pounds (65 000 dollars).

In the two times - starting with 5 000 to 11 875 pounds - got me to advertise in the review package "Firebird".

So the crisis is a crisis, and the price of the book inspired. It's a pity that there are almost no good books for sale. Well ahead of an auction of books at Sotheby's on June 10.
