Typically, isolated fresh water - salinity up to 1 ppm, brackish - up to 10 ppm, salt - up to 35 ppm, brine for more than 35 ppm.
The salinity of the sea to the regulation of the Don varied from 1 ppm at the mouth of the Don to 10.5 per cent in the central part of the sea and 11.5 ppm in the Kerch Strait. After creating Tsimlyanskii Dam (1952) the salinity of the sea began to rise (up to 13 ppm in the central part).
Thus, the sea, near Kerch, in scientific terminology, is salty.
