Each flower or a butterfly bore in itself a symbol. According to these and painted still lifes.
It was something like love letters to each other and other symbols

"Reading" still life was a sort of intellectual game. Any object or phenomenon could be revisited in different aspects, with different code setting. The objects presented in the still life could have been perceived in various ways - in the vein of love symbols, in the moral and didactic, as a religious allegory (thus the "meaning" go back to "low" to "high", with the idea of starting from a concrete object).
Erasmus wrote: "Every thing has two faces ... and this person does not resemble one another. Outside, as if death, and look inside - you'll see life, and, conversely, a life of hiding death for beauty - a disgrace, a plethora - abject poverty, a shame - the glory, the doctrine - the ignorance, under the power - squalor, a noble -- meanness, a joy - sorrow for prosperity - failure under friendship - rivalry, a benefit - harm. All this was an excuse to create still lifes with flowers, which are developed through the symbolism of flowers, fruits and objects, into an exciting narrative.

emblematic collections, published throughout the XVII century, is a good tool in deciphering the paintings. Those who were acquainted with this literature, have not experienced much difficulty in the interpretation of paintings. For example, white lily talked about chastity. White Rose testified platonic love, and red - on the flesh. Tulips were a symbol of rapidly receding beauty, breeding of these colors was considered one of the most vain and futile exercise. Wilted flower hinted at the loss of feeling, but thistles tied with the notion of evil.
And here's another one of the scientific work of the tulips, the same colors and so on.:
Save documents showing the direct contacts between botanists, gardeners and painters. Composition as the Flemish and Dutch works rather stereotyped: a tight bunch, gathered in a vase or basket, combined with a few flowers scattered apart. By being so characteristic of the time, interest in the variety of forms of nature, the artists were injected in their floral still life images of grasshoppers, butterflies, flies, lizards, frogs, shells, even the rare birds.
In the most lush bouquets can count up to thirty varieties of flowers, besides flowering at different times of the year. These paintings were created, of course not from nature, but on the basis of preliminary Studies, and the artist's purpose was to show the richness and beauty of the kingdom of Flora, regardless of the season.
Of particular interest are the exotic imported plants: varieties of tulips from Iran, "the king's hair" from Afghanistan, from Mexico, marigolds, nasturtiums from Peru. It is possible that in these still lifes, some role played also the symbolic significance of the flower: in the lower parts of the bouquet of lilies of the valley is often portrayed (virginity) and violet (modesty).
Literal repetition of individual motifs was facilitated by the existence of Studies with plants. Thus, Studies of Jan Bruegel Velvet had the opportunity to use Ambrosius Bosschaert Senior. This is evident from his works: white iris at the top of the bouquet in the picture Ambrosius Bosschaert "Flowers in a metal vase" is absolutely similar to the flower on the same spot in a flower still life by Jan Brueghel the Velvet. White Narcissus in Still Life Flowers in a wooden barrel, "by Jan Brueghel repeated in" Flowers in a Chinese Vase "Ambrosius Bosschaert.
Borrow from each other other artists colors. For example, Balthasar van der Asta in his film "Tulpan, Columbine, shells and insects" (1636) shows the same butterfly that in Still Life with Fruit Dish and Pitcher "Ambrosius Bosschaert Elder. Balthasar van der Ast repeats not only the individual parts, but also songs Ambrosius Bosschaert Elder: in the "Bouquet and crystal glasses", in "Bouquet in a metal vase.
Many borrowed from his father Johannes Bosschaert, as in the painting "Fruit Basket", he takes to the track B. van der Asta.

sergejnowo, you have the top - blown tulip, then white and pink roses and 3 peach - is clearly "love still life" or "love letter" --
"Beauty is very transient, but when it is in bloom, it causes a feeling at first platonic, which pererostaet in sensual love, and then close and the fall (Peaches)
