V.X. Sause was one of the outstanding Soviet charts, extraordinary master of etching: in Odessa, he was the only painter of the older generation, who worked in this unique and sophisticated field of fine arts, and in depth knowledge of etchings, perhaps the only in Ukraine.
Vladimir Hristianovich Sause was born in St. Petersburg May 18, 1859. He was the son of academician watercolor painting Christian Fedorovich Sause - student Zichy. Childhood artist elapsed but in Moscow, where he moved with his parents in 1863.
In 1870 V.X. Sause did: in the Moscow Stroganov School, where he graduated in 1879. Its main leaders in the school were: Academician Jasinski and artist Shchyogolev. Both of these teachers have played a prominent role in shaping the tastes and artistic instincts V.X. Sause, which the artist largely stayed true to its future deyatenostn: Jasinski him toward the landscape and the work of watercolor, Shchyogolev interested in his image of the animal world.
At the end of the Stroganov School V.X. Sause is engaged in educational work in secondary schools: first in Dubno, then from 1881 - in the city of Mykolayiv. In 1885 he moved to Odessa, and there runs all his further activities.
From 1885 but in 1920 V.X. Sause teaches at the Commercial High School, and from 1920 invited the leaders of graphic faculty of the Odessa Art Institute, where he worked until 1931, then retire, leaving a teaching job.
