По умолчанию The Hermitage has opened an exhibition of the Renaissance artist Garofalo

August 8, 2008, the State Hermitage Museum opened an exhibition of paintings by Benvenuto Tisi da Garofalo, Italian artist XVI century. Four of his works, which make up the exhibition, were purchased by Emperor Nicholas I.

The paintings were painted by the artist for Ferrara, the Convent of San Bernardino, and later sold to the home of a private collection, from which came to Russia.
One of Garofalo's paintings stored in the Far Eastern Art Museum in Khabarovsk, and to bring him to St. Petersburg, took a plane Emergencies Ministry, Interfax reported. Agency mentions in this connection, the picture "The Marriage at Cana, but, judging from the sites of both museums, we are talking about the" miracle of the loaves and fishes.

Garofalo (1481-1559), born in Ferrara, he learned from Bokachchino, worked with Dosso Dossi, long helped to Raphael in the decoration of the papal office at Vatican (Stanza della Senyatura), then returned to Ferrara, where he worked until his death.

Work Garofalo are found in many major European museums, including the Alte Pinakothek Brera in Milan, in London's National Gallery, the Capitoline museums in Rome.
