Albert Aleksandrovich Benois (June 11, 1888, St. Petersburg — August 13, 1960, Paris) — Russian architect, painter and graphic artist.
The son of the watercolourist Alexander Alexandrovich Benois (Horse). The father and made his first art teacher of his son. He continued his education at the Institute of civil engineers(St. Petersburg). Later he taught at the drawing school of the Imperial society for the encouragement of the arts (OPKh). In 1910 he moved to France where he continued his studies at the Special school of architecture (Paris). With the 20-ies of XX century artwork of albert Benoit was exhibited at the salon d'automne and the Salon des indépendants, the exhibitions of the society of "Icon", whose member he was, exhibitions of Russian art in Brussels, Belgrade and Paris.
Among the most famous architectural creations of albert Benois — building of the Church of the Dormition at the Russian Cemetery Sainte-geneviève-des-Bois near Paris (with his wife M. A. Benoit, and painted this temple), the monument to the participants of the White movement — Gallipolis (jointly with M. A. Benoit) in the same cemetery, the temple is a monument on the graves of Russian soldiers in the cemetery of Saint-Hilaire-Le-Grand (near Mourmelon). Also on sketches by A. Benois created over a hundred crosses and tombstones, including for famous Russian emigrants Bunin, Merezhkovsky, Gippius, Shmeleva.
