Ukrainian photographer Boris Mikhailov became the laureate of the international prize Goslarer Kaiserring for 2015. At the presentation on Friday evening, January 9, in the East German town of Goslar, the jury of this prestigious art award honored the now 76-year-old photographer from Kharkov as a leading chronicler of Soviet and post-Soviet society".
Boris Mikhailov, now one of the most important contemporary photographers, started his creative career in Kharkiv, where at first he worked as an engineer at the plant. From the first photographic experiments he was interested in the social sphere of life. In the West the most famous is his series of photographs of homeless Kharkiv and people who after the collapse of the Soviet Union failed to find their place in life and to earn a decent living in a new social system. He has been awarded many prestigious international awards. His work is represented in many museums around the world. Elected member of the Academy of arts in Berlin.
