That is, do you think that this is not the real purchase, and mafia money launderer ?

The notion that money launderers only "mafia" , as if to say better ... cartoon . )
I do not in any way deny the positive dynamics of the art market , especially given the more or less obvious , if not the objective of the investment attractiveness of the market in general. This has already been a lot written , and even the most cursory analysis seems to be said in favor of this kind of investment . Moreover, the work of art as a commodity unit , there are a number of other characteristic qualities that seem to increase its investment attractiveness. In other words , works of art , purchased /selected with " knowingly " and /or in accordance with specific investment strategy elaborated by far contribute to the preservation and /or augmentation of capital, at least on a par with the more common ( traditional ) investment instruments .
However , lately , it would be frivolous to dismiss the debate on the use of the art market ( at least in some of its segments) in order to deliberately dubious financial manipulations , including money laundering . Moreover, for example in Europe (to a greater extent than in the U.S. for example , as far as I know) , have moved from talk to action, trying to introduce all sorts of control mechanisms traditionally opaque , I would even say , actively masquerading art market.
For example , the fact that there is someone there , and the New York Times touched on this subject, speaks for itself . Here is the article where , just featured our " weight in diamonds " designer drug addict prodigy Basquiat :
P.S. This "theme " is rooted in a program called "Advancing American Art " developed by the CIA in 1947 and is funded from the state budget dollars. The fact that we are now discussing , namely the phenomenon of post-war American art ( by and large ) is a logical continuation of the propaganda of U.S. policy in the sphere of culture of the Cold War , the modified /amended under the current political economic realities. That is to say , reap the benefits of a half-century of labor.
